
Most people who are trying to get thin make the erroneous assumption that it is acceptable in their diet to get thin to skip breakfast. That is the most common yet the most fatal (as to your weightloss efforts) mistakes. Contrary to this belief, skipping breakfast may be the single element that will cause you either to regain your weight back and/or make dieting incredibly and unnecessarily difficult. The difficulty may set you back to the point that you will abandon your program to get thin.
There is a lot of scientific evidence that demonstrates that about 80% of people without a weight problem eat good solid breakfast, where as about the same, 80 % of the overweight people skip breakfast or eat very small breakfast. My favorite specifically designed study where the researchers studied 2 specific groups of people trying to get thin. The first group was the "large breakfast" dieters and the second was the "small breakfast" dieters. The findings were unquestionably clear.
Both groups lost weight during the 1st 4 months of the study. There was no significant difference between the two groups. The subsequent 4 months showed an amazing difference.
- 1st group – large breakfast eaters: 91% of participants continued to lose weight
- 2nd group- small breakfast eaters: 76 % of participants STOPPED LOSING weight and eventually abandoned the program because they were not able to continue resisting craving
The important requirement is that the breakfast is large, between 500-600 calories and that it consists of protein, carbohydrates (even sweets if you want to) and fats in a ratio of 46-37-17 percent respectively and breakfast should be eaten at most within the first 30-40 minutes after waking up.
This is such good news! Many of the savvy diets to get thin are already embracing this phenomenon. What is happening is that after the night fast your body is ready to start working . A good intake of protein will accelerate your metabolism. The intake of carbohydrates ensures that the typical "snack attacks” do not occur during the day. I know you are saying you don’t have time for breakfast or perhaps that you hate breakfast. Hey, change your thinking or else you will keep struggling forever and you will not reach a stable weightloss no matter how you are trying to get thin.
